About My Music
About My Music Music has always played a big part in my life. My parents were in a rock and roll band when I was born and frequently took me to their shows. My dad played the drums and I started playing them myself when I was about 5 years old. I stuck with the drums through out high school and was drum captain my Senior year. I also picked up the guitar just before high school. I took lessons for a few weeks but didn't stick with it and ended up learning on my own over time. I started composing music with midi during high school as well and took a strong liking to that. I don't have as much time on my hands as I use to but I still try to practice at least 30 minutes a day. Whenever I'm learning or composing new material I generally figure out everything I do by ear.

Reviews from people kind enough to write about me after seeing me perform live.
  • Quote from dr-poque.livejournal.com

" We went to Video Games Live that night. I was most excited to see Koji Kondo, but that part was just okay- The best performance of the night was a guy shredding through Contra on an electric guitar. It really could have been two hours of that. "

  • Quote from GameInformer.com

" Internet celebrities "VertexGuy" and the "Video Game Pianist" played virtuosic versions of electric guitar music from Contra and old Namco favorites on piano–such as Dig Dug and Pac-Man–respectively. "

  • Quote from blog.myspace.com/scroby

" There was also Chris Kline, the Veretex guy, who plays the song from the first level of Contra on his guitar! It rocked, he also came out later to play a song from Final Fantasy 7... "

  • Quote from kotaku.com

" The videos of VertexGuy that appeared on the interwebs awhile back do him no justice. I've found in my explorations of video game music, that game players make some of the best guitarists you're likely to find, and VertexGuy is living proof. Take a look for yourself. The man is seriously gifted, and I am surprised his fingers don't burst into flame as he effortlessly burns through his rendition of Contra Jungle Jam. Definitely my second favorite performance of the night."

  • Quote from wiidawii.com

" “VertexGuy” powered the stirring electric guitar anthems of Contra and the Halo 3 grand finale. "

  • Quote from SoapyMoose.BlogSpot.com

" Chris Kline aka “vertexguy” who is an incredible guitarist, played the Jungle Theme from Contra. "

  • Quote from Destructoid.com

" We also got the pleasure of rocking out with Chris Kline ("vertexguy") as debuted his version of the Contra jungle theme. "

  • Quote from Music4Games.net

" ...there were several highlight moments including Vertex Guy (the legitimate heir to Guitar Hero’s Marcus Henderson throne perhaps?) and his hot guitar licks on display for Contra... "
